A CAD 2D/3D viewer that opens a STEP, IGES, DXF or STL attachment inside the issue itself — eight formats in all, with no per-seat proprietary licence, no viewer to install, no file to download. It is one of the plugins that came out of real production work in a metalworking plant, and it has been running for over a year.

CAD files open where the work already happens
In a survey of all 868 plugins in the official Redmine directory (August 2026), searching for CAD, STEP, STL, IGES, DWG, DXF, 3D or BIM returned nothing — free or paid. This CAD 2D/3D viewer opens eight formats on the issue page itself, and it will be free. Early access — join the list to follow the first public release.
STEP, IGES and BREP
OpenCascade compiled to WebAssembly, running in a Web Worker — the page never freezes while a large assembly loads.
DXF with layers
Native DXF rendering with a layer panel, so a drawing can be read the way it was drawn.
DWG on the roadmap
DXF is supported natively today. DWG support is planned for a later release.
Mesh formats too
STL, OBJ, PLY and glTF/GLB through three.js, in the same viewer and with the same controls.
Thumbnails in the issue
Every CAD attachment gets an automatic preview in the attachments block, so a list of files stops being a list of file names.
Tested on real files
A 62 MB IGES with 1.6 million triangles and 357 parts. On machines without a GPU it detects the limit and lowers render cost by itself.
Nothing to configure
No database migrations, no new gems, no required settings. It respects the attachment permissions Redmine already enforces.
Proven in production
Over a year in an industrial Redmine instance with thousands of issues and attachments, used daily by engineering.

Built by someone who lives the problem
Bueno Labs is the workshop of Philipe Bueno, a manufacturing engineer with more than 18 years in the metalworking industry in Brazil. Not an agency that learns your process from a briefing — someone who spent a career inside it: welded joints, engineering backlogs, time entries nobody logged, and drawings lost in a network folder.
Every plugin here started as one of those problems. The CAD 2D/3D viewer exists because engineers were downloading STEP files to a workstation just to check which part a request was about. The time punch exists because hours were being reconstructed from memory at the end of the week. The health & safety module exists because occupational medicine records were living in folders nobody could audit. Each one was written for daily use first and polished for release afterwards.
They run today in an industrial Redmine instance with thousands of issues and attachments, and they have been running for over a year. That path — from a real problem to software in production — is what Bueno Labs offers.
Source included, always
A Redmine plugin is a derivative work: the Ruby code is GPL v2 by law, and Bueno Labs treats that as a feature. No obfuscated files, no proprietary blobs, no lock-in.
Install without drama
No forced migrations, no exotic gems, no Redmine core files edited. A plugin that is hard to install is a plugin that gets removed at the next upgrade.
Production, not prototype
Everything published here has already survived a shift change, a slow network and a 62 MB file somebody attached without warning.
